SELF-TIMER, IN SITU
Self-Timer, In Situ is part of the Self-Timer photo series. The photos in this series show the solitary camera positioned in a space while people (friends, family, Kruno and I, ...) waited for it to take a photograph. Self-Timer, In Situ was not produced spontaneously - in contrast to other photos in the Self-Timer series, but conceived and realized for a display box in front of Malkasten. We - curator Katja Stuke, Kruno Stipesevic and I - posed in front of the display box, the camera in self-timer mode was placed on Schütte's sculpture in the middle of the square. As usual, I shot the camera with a second camera without looking through the viewfinder, holding the objective at waist height. The photo I took was displayed on the front of the box (as Malkasten program poster), the photo taken with the self-timer was displayed as a poster on the back.
